A champion for a better future in Abitibi–Témiscamingue
Jonathan Andresen (Jon) is a business leader with deep roots in Western Quebec and a lifelong commitment to economic growth, innovation, and the development of rural communities. He strongly believes in the potential of our regions and the importance of supporting families, workers, and local communities.
Jon grew up in La Pêche, a small rural community near Gatineau, where his family became the first to settle on Lac à l’Île in 1984. Together with his father, a Danish teacher who chose Quebec to build a new life, Jon built the family’s square-log home using reclaimed 19th-century timber from Ottawa Valley farmhouses — a lasting tribute to rural tradition and belonging. His father taught him to respect the land and serve the public good.
With over 25 years of experience in the global tech sector, Jon has led business development and opened new markets across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. He has held senior roles at Teleglobe, Nortel Networks, Symantec, McAfee, and several Silicon Valley cybersecurity startups. He has helped Canadian companies grow internationally while creating good jobs here at home.
Jon holds a Master’s degree in International Trade Policy from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Relations and Economics from Queen’s University.
Jon began his career in public service at Global Affairs Canada, supporting Canadian industries in accessing international markets. He took part in Team Canada trade missions, including Prime Minister Jean Chrétien’s mission to China in 1998 — an experience that reinforced his belief that Quebec and Canada must remain strong players on the world stage.
Jon isn’t a career politician. He is running because he believes that Abitibi–Témiscamingue and all of Western Quebec need a real voice in Ottawa — someone who understands our challenges and will stand up for our economy, our jobs, and our future. He shares Mark Carney’s vision that we must build a stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous Quebec and Canada by investing in our people, our regions, and our future.
Jon is a family man, proud to share his life with his wife Laura and their daughter Kaede.
Join Jon’s campaign and let’s work together to build a stronger, more resilient Quebec and Canada.
